Who will receive the supplement?
Families who received temporary assistance or food stamps in the month of July 2009 will receive a one-time payment of $200 per child (age 3 to 17) to help with back to school costs. Two-thirds of the households eligible for the supplement are in food stamp only households.

A copy of the letter from OTDA concerning this second data pull will be sent to you via e-mail.
In NYC: The back to school supplement will be available to eligible households starting on October 3o. Notices will go out to over 6,000 households starting on October 22 informing them of the abvailability and intended use of the supplement.
Rest of State: Each LDSS recieved a list of eligible households and the potential supplement amounts due to these households on October 21. Payments will be manually authorized by the local districts to the 4,500 eligible households outside of NYC. Each district will send a notice to eligible households informing them of the availability and intended use of the supplement. This manual authorization may be done over weeks, so not all households will recieve the supplement on the same day.
How long do families have to spend the money?
As with the original back-to-school payments households have 90 days from the date the benefit becomes available on thier EBT card to access the funds.
